Read MoreShane Fernando was appointed in May 2014 as the director of the Humanities and Fine Arts Center at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, N.C. This new facility is the largest and most technologically advanced performing arts center in eastern N.C. He was previously employed by UNCW, most recently as Director of Campus Life Arts and Programs. Fernando is an alumnus of the UNCW Department of Communication Studies and returned to earn a master's degree in public administration. A past-president of the Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts Board of Trustees, he is currently the programming consultant for the Hall and a member of the executive committee of the N.C. Presenters Consortium. Recent accolades include: “Most Intriguing People of 2014” by the Greater Wilmington Business Journal, “One of the 12 to Watch in 2015” by the Wilmington Star News, and “Best Director of a Musical” by the Wilmington Theatre Awards in 2015. Fernando is also a public arts commentator for WHQR Public Radio and a member of SAG-AFTRA. He has been a director, property master, and actor in over 150 Wilmington theatre productions.
