Wilmington, NC: March will be a busy month for hosting meetings as travel industry partners in Wilmington and its Island Beaches welcome attendees for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising's Region 3 Conference on March 22-25 and the Carolinas Recycling Association 33rd Annual Conference & Trade Show on March 26-31.

On March 22-25, approximately 350 attendees will take part in the NACADA Region 3 Conference with events held at the at Cape Fear Community College Union Station Conference Center. NACADA is the leading global community for the advancement of student success through academic advising in higher education. The event will attract in-state academic advisors as well as those from Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. The majority of attendees and guests will be staying at the Hotel Ballast Wilmington during this three-day event.

Jairo McMican, Associate Director of Equity Initiatives from Achieving the Dream and educator with 16 years of experience in the specialized field of academic advising, will deliver the keynote address. In addition to the keynote, the conference provides attendees with breakout sessions that address the most pressing issues in the profession and a platform for advisors to engage in meaningful conversations about the latest trends and best practices in the field. Each region also contributes to a local non-profit within that region as part of the annual conference. This year's local service project is the Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear.

The following week Carolina Recycling Association's 33rd Annual Conference & Trade Show will bring more than 400 attendees to Wilmington. Representatives of recycling companies, local governments, state and federal agencies, universities and colleges, state recycling organizations and other non-profits will gather at the Wilmington Convention Center from March 27-30 to network, learn, plan and influence issues affecting recycling in the Carolinas and beyond. During the event, the Carolina Recycling Association along with the Foodservice Packaging Institute, will hold a press conference at the Wilmington Convention Center on Wednesday, March 29th, at 2:30 p.m. to announce exciting developments in the recyclability of certain consumer packaging materials. Local media is invited to attend (see contact below).
