Wilmington, NC: September is set to be a busy month for hosting meetings as travel industry partners in Wilmington and its Island Beaches welcome attendees for NC Project LEAD, Inc.'s Socioeconomic Community Development Conference on Sept. 14-16 and the NC Society for Human Resource Management’s 2023 NCSHRM State Conference on Sept. 20-22. This year marks the first time that NC Project LEAD has held its conference in Wilmington.
On Sept. 14-16, approximately 800 attendees will take part in the NC Project LEAD Socioeconomic Community Development Conference with workshops and events held at the at Hotel Ballast on Friday, September 15. Conference events will conclude on Saturday, September 16 at the Wilmington Convention Center with the White Lotus Leadership Awards Gala & Evening with Oleta Adams, an awards ceremony and concert honoring regional and national leaders mitigating the social-economic and political determinants of health. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Village for Scholars STEAM Education and The White Coat Youth Mentoring Program.
NC Project LEAD, Inc.'s mission is to build a cross-section of strategic partnerships and grow community-based coalitions to impact the Social-Economic Determinants of Health and foster the Arts and Humanities in socioeconomically distressed and underserved communities.
The following week the 2023 NCSHRM State Conference will bring more than 600 attendees to Wilmington. Keynote speakers include Wilmington locals and founders of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, Amy and Ben Wright; Marcus Johnson, an independent Billboard-ranked musician, NAACP Image Award nominee and owner of FLO Brands and FLO Wine; Mike Lee, founder of MindShift Labs and April Simpkins, SHRM-CP, PHR, Chief Human Resources Officer for Questco, among other presenters. Conference events will be held at the Wilmington Convention Center.
The NCSHRM Conference is the annual conference of the North Carolina Society For Human Resource Management, a state affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
